These impressive images are from Yiwu, a city in the Zhejiang province of China that hosts China Commodities City, famous for being the largest small commodity wholesale market in the world. Thousands of stalls exhibit multiple and slight variations on a particular item, sold by the housand to be exported across complex logistics networks, disseminated to a world of dispersed consumers.
More than impress by the level of sectorization and organization, this series by photographer Richard John Seymour raises a number of questions about consumption ~ and makes us rethink the way we relate to this global economic scale.
