Teen Queen – Marie Antoinette

Teen Queen - Marie AntoinetteTeen Queen - Marie AntoinetteTeen Queen - Marie AntoinetteTeen Queen - Marie AntoinetteTeen Queen - Marie AntoinetteTeen Queen - Marie Antoinette

Remembering this gorgeous Vogue U.S. photoshoot – the first time in 25 years that a magazine was allowed to shoot at Versailles. The beautiful Kirsten Dunst as the “Teen Queen” Marie Antoinette, photographed by Annie Leibovitz in September 2006.

It’s so easy to get lost in the beauty of Versailles, the beauty of Kirsten, the beauty of the costumes… I can’t wait to visit Versailles again, have a picnic at Le Hameau de la Reine, wander through the gardens…

Marie Antoinette - the book

I recently read Marie Antoinette’s biography, written by Antonia Fraser (and in which Sofia Coppola based the script for her film in 2006) and really enjoyed it. Especially because the book is less about all the cliches that we already know about the queen and more about interesting historical details, such as the social order at Versailles, the bureaucracy of the french court and Marie Antoinette’s real influence over the king Louis XVI. I highly recommend!

wow this editorial looks amazing! I loved the movie, the way sofia coppola revisited the story. Marie Antoinette as always been one of my favorite historical characters. I want to check out the book, thanks for sharing it!

i remember watching this over the indian ocean – and it took me years to let go of that vogue magazine! i’ve read much on the french revolution, but not this, though often tempted; thank you for recommending it. i, too, would love to return to versailles – in the meantime, hoping to see ‘les adieux a la reine’. have you?

I haven’t seen it yet. But Antonia Fraser’s book deals with the question of the Queen’s ladies in waiting and rumors of lesbianism in court (and makes it clear that they were just rumors and gossip).

Hmm you’ve really got me thinking. I love Sofia Coppola and after MA received such B-A-D reviews I never saw it. I didn’t want anything to take away from my Sofia love.

    But now I am reconsidering.

  21. Rafa says:

  24. odessa says:

    camila, have you seen this?

  27. Amei!

    Beijos
